Man of Lawlessness

1 Now we request you, ^abrethren, with regard to the ^{▼▼ Or presence
,} ^ccoming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our ^dgathering together to Him, 2 that you not be quickly shaken from your ^{▼▼ Lit mind}composure or be disturbed either by a ^fspirit or a ^{▼▼ Lit word
,} ^hmessage or a ⁱletter as if from us, to the effect that ^jthe day of the Lord ^khas come. 3 ^lLet no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the ^{▼▼ Or falling away from the faith
,} ⁿapostasy comes first, and the ^oman of lawlessness is revealed, the ^pson of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above ^{▼▼ Or everyone who is called God
,} ^revery so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, ^sdisplaying himself as being God. 5 Do you not remember that ^twhile I was still with you, I was telling you these things? 6 And you know ^uwhat restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. 7 For ^vthe mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only ^whe who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. 8 Then that lawless one ^xwill be revealed whom the Lord will slay ^ywith the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the ^zappearance of His ^{▼▼ Or presence}coming; 9 that is, the one whose ^{▼▼ Or presence}coming is in accord with the activity of ^acSatan, with all power and ^{▼▼ Or attesting miracles
,} ^aesigns and false wonders, 10 and with ^{▼▼ Or every deception}all the deception of wickedness for ^agthose who perish, because they did not receive the love of ^ahthe truth so as to be saved. 11 For this reason ^aiGod ^{▼▼ Lit is sending}will send upon them ^{▼▼ Lit an activity of error}a ^aldeluding influence so that they will believe ^{▼▼ Or the lie}what is false, 12 in order that they all may be ^{▼▼ Or condemned}judged who ^aodid not believe the truth, but ^{▼▼ Or approved
